They mentioned that even as little as a 3-4 degree temperature difference (using the old Windsor design FRPP block and Yates heads) played havoc with hp creation, cylinder to cylinder timing, etc. The new engine was designed with water jackets and overall coolant flow to have zero difference between all eight cylinders.
