Before the L120 I had a MTD push (in a much smaller lot) and I always mulched w\ that too. As I remember it always did a good job mulching. But now I realize that the JD "Mulch Kit" just means that the grass doesn't get thrown out the side; it doesn't mulch. It takes me twice as long but I need the exercise any. My belt snapped the cables so I cringed butt connectors on it , now mower pops fuses immediately when I turn the key to on. The VERY first time I turned the key it cranked about twice but then every time since it just pops. Hey everyone. So as the title explains, I have a John Deere L120 with a Briggs intek 20hp v-twin engine. Great little mower and have used it for years. All of a sudden a few weeks ago it’s started misfiring. I’ve replaced the plugs, fuel filter and air filter. It starts just fine but when I bring it up to full speed and engage the PTO, it begins to misfire and starts blowing black smoke out the front. Any suggestions on where I should go from here.
